Gr. 1- Chou

Hello!  My name is Victor Chou.  I was born in Edmonton, Alberta to my mother and father who were both from Guangzhou, China.

Having both parents as immigrants, I grew up speaking little to no English at home.  I was an ELL student for much of early elementary so I can often relate to the ELL learners in my classrooms.  Fortunately, I had some amazing elementary teachers when I was younger.  I often think about what it would be like to meet my elementary teachers again.  My favourite teacher in particular was my grade one teacher.  She taught me my short and long vowel sounds and even let me take home the classroom guppies.  She even invited the entire class to her wedding!  When she returned from her honeymoon in Hawaii, not only did she returned much darker, but she had a different name as well!  Much to the dismay of my naive, young mind, I thought we had a different teacher!  I cannot remember what she changed her name to, but she left a permanent impression on me.

Now it is my turn to return the favour.  I am so excited to be here at Herons Crossing School.  On top of that, I get to teach grade one as well.  Let's enjoy the journey together!
